Manchester United officially announced that the team's defender Smalling would move to Rome.
According to previous reports by Romano and other reporters, the transfer fee for Smalling’s transfer to Rome is about 20 million euros, of which Rome will pay a fixed transfer fee of 15 million euros plus a floating clause of 5 million euros.
Manchester United has reached an agreement with Roma on the transfer of defender Smalling. The central defender was signed by Sir Ferguson from Fulham in 2010. He played 323 times for the club and scored 18 goals.
Smalling won the Premier League title in the first season of the 2010/11 and 2012/13 seasons. He also won the FA Cup (2015/16), League Cup (2016/17) and Europa League (2016/17), and started in all finals.
His debut was a 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the 2010 Charity Shield. Smalling played 33 times in the first team in his first season, helping the Red Devils win a record-breaking 19th championship.
He scored his first goal in the League Cup against Scunthorpe, and a header against Chelsea in the following Premier League season kicked off his Premier League career.
Smalling's goals against Manchester City are often talked about by fans. His most famous moment was the Manchester derby in April 2018, when he helped Manchester United win 0-2 at home.
Smalling's aggressive defense made him a headache for forwards. Last season's Premier League Golden Boot winner Vardy once thought Smalling was the most impressive central defender he had ever encountered.
He is loved and trusted by every coach. In the current team, his number of appearances ranks second in the team, with De Gea being the first.
Everyone at Manchester United will thank Smalling for his service, dedication and professionalism over the years, and wish him all the best in the future.
